Day 56: Excellent leftovers.
I'd hoped to score more untracked this morning after the Ho gate stayed closed all day yesterday, but it inexplicably stayed closed all day again today. That's OK, though, for Albion Gully delivered the untracked goods once again today. Twice, in fact.
But first a quiz. Does anyone recognize these two?
We were yapping with them for a bit this morning in the liftline and again at the top of Collins as one of them is a friend (that's a big hint there for those who regularly read my posts!). They were heading to Rocky Point to shoot some catalog product photos. Once someone comes up with the correct answer I've got a heluva story about both of them today.
Bobby Danger, AmyZ and I skied together today. Skidog and his friend Eric on a three-day visit joined us for the morning before heading to the airport, and TheOtherAmy was there for one run this morning before heading back down canyon to work on a presentation for her job.
As cold as yesterday was, today was even colder - 1°F at both the top and the bottom. We also picked up an extra 3" overnight to freshen things up and bring this week's snowfall total to 31". The sun largely stayed away again until mid-afternoon, so the snow stayed dry and fluffy much longer than we have a right to expect in late March. In fact I didn't feel untracked surfaces even start to change until our last run at 3pm.
Crowds were surprisingly light today so the snow stayed good. One of Bob's friends, a passholder from Snowbird, joined us after lunch for a very lightly tracked run down Greeley Hill and proclaimed, "There's nothing like that left at Snowbird."
On my last run of the day I caught a face shot on the second to last turn on the final 150 vertical feet, a fitting end to a truly marvelous weekend in the Wasatch.
Skidog got some action shots and he promised to add them to this thread.
