Day 64: Gorgeous
Spring days don't get much better than this. Bright blue skies, good snow that softened on different aspects throughout the day, a BBQ on the deck in shirtsleeves, and free demos.
I didn't show up until 11:15 or so -- no point in arriving earlier at this time of year as things freeze up rock solid. The Kid grabbed some phat skis from Scott at the demo tent (P4 in a 181cm length, 134-104-123, with a 21m turning radius) and we met up with Marc_C (feeling under the weather), Pat, Amy and Tele John to head up Collins. Things were still firm in Collins Gulch so we headed straight for Sugarloaf to carve big arcs down the length of Devil's Elbow in softer snow - delightful! This was the place to be, so we did several more runs down Sugarloaf - Sugar Bowl/Devil's Elbow/Extrovert, Sugar Bowl/Devil's Elbow/Roller Coaster, and a foray out Backside all the way down to the Transfer Tow to hit GMD for lunch and so that The Kid could swap out skis. After a grilled burger in the sunshine, The Kid headed for Snowbird and Tele John grabbed some skis from Icelantic. Things were softening on West Rustler so we lapped some untracked cream cheese out there for several runs before I had to head to the airport to pick up The Wife.
Total verts: 11,490.
