I got a voicemail from Al Solish at Snowbird last night. It snowed a foot overnight Tuesday but the Little Cottonwood road was closed until noon Wednesday.

You often hear of this possibility, but this is the first time I've talked with someone who experienced it personally. Walk-on trams with fresh pow everywhere.

Some quotes:
"It was like being in a Warren Miller movie."
"Eat your heart out, heliskiing!"
"Long time Snowbird patroller said it was one of the top 10 days he's ever skied there."

I believe it. Like I said in another topic, at my house at 5,000 feet it was by far the fastest foot of snow I've ever seen fall outside of the mountains. The LCC road was actually open until 9 am or so, so the early bird definitely got the worm yesterday.

I took my kid to school, but by the time I got back (it's merely 2 miles down the street) I couldn't get up the hill to my own home. The snow on the street was deep -- the plows couldn't keep up, and there was a layer of ice covered by about 8-10 inches of loose fluff. I tried 4 times before giving up, leaving it on the curb in front of a neighbor's house, and walking the rest of the way.

When I came back out, I brushed another 4" or so from the car, got in, immediately turned around to back up...and the rear window was already blocked by more new snow.

Too bad I had to work. ](*,)
