That's what happened in 1978. Mudslides closed the Crest in February. Waterman opened via Big Tujunga at the beginning of April. With fresh powder.

I hate to say this, but I don't think Mt. Waterman is a viable business any longer. I certainly hope that they're not paying any rent to the forest service for their operating permit. Caltrans didn't cause the fire, but their handling of the Angeles Crest Hwy has been pathetic for a number of years and obviously it's not a priority for them.

Yes, and their website says 250.00 for a season pass until opening. And, if they don't open, you get your money rolled over for next year or returned? But, what if they open 4 days, then you pay more than you would for a solitary lift ticket? I think they should specify if they don't open how many days, or are only open so many days, then you get rolled over to next year. That place has had the worse luck. Are there angry ghosts there ? NIce steeps, good back country they say, and enough easy runs to bring all levels of skiing friends/family! Nice view from the lodge, nice lodge, new improved buildings. Pray for the livelihood of Mt. Waterman and Newcomb's Ranch, a not to miss eatery, summer or winter!
