hit up attitash on their free day, friday december the 6th. i had the day off from work for weeks, but looks like lots of other people skipped work!

i was surprised so many people made it out on a friday; however, lift lines were 1 minute tops in any lift. this was my first time at attitash and i was amazed at the amount of lifts and up hill capacity they have for not a huge amount of terrain area wise. any ways...

there were essentially four routes down the mountain, with an occasional option. from the summit triple you could take saco (well covered) down to tightrope (why is this trail labeled double diamond? are they for real? this must be an ASC classification that stands for "in their dreams") down to the top of the Quad. tightrope was hard pack and sraped, not too enjoyable, but skiable... well, unless you were one of those beginner snowplowers that were sidesliping down. see? trail classifications definitly don't act as a deterent!

next, from the quad route one was cardigan/turkey chute to moat. a little scratchy in parts. lots of traffic and a dangerous intersection at the bottom. blow more snow, i say.

other option from the quad was my favorite for the day which was grand stand. again, a black diamond? are they for real? any ways, natural snow on the right with whales on the left. i opted all day for the natural stuff on the right side edge of the trail. small bumps built up sometimes between the twigs, then snowboards slided them off looking for jumps. then skiers would build bumps up again, and repeat.

couple trails off the beginners double chair. very nice beginners area, solid cover.

snow making was blowing on northwest passage during the afternoon (looks like it should open this weekend) and lots of places on bear peak. they also had guns set up in the pipe, but none blowing yet.

quite a bit of attitude from the younger skiers, i've never seen that before. then again, the places i go usually doesn't attract the younger crowd or families. hopefully that's a passing thing or is confined to those places i don't go!

oh well. it was free right?
