Australia/NZ 2025

Does Brisbane have the infrastructure to host the games?

San Francisco or Miami might be stretched, even Seattle - some cities I am familiar with.

No. It doesn’t. We were the only bidder for 2032. Our previous Premier chased the Olympics as she wanted a legacy. It was a very dumb idea to almost everyone but her.

With all the sports that keep getting added very few cities in the world have that kind of infrastructure.
L.A. certainly does. We have a lot of new venues in recent years: SoFi for the Rams/Chargers, Intuit for the Clippers, BMO soccer stadium for LAFC. In addition, Staples/Crypto and USC's Galen Center were not here for the last Olympics in 1984.

I could probably hook you up with our new Premier. I’m sure he’d gladly hand it over. Tariff free even.

It had better since it hosts before Brisbane :D

I'd guess you need a metro area of at least 8-10 million though to have something close-ish to the right infrastructure for summer games without massive construction these days.

For reference I actually worked for the organizing committee for the Atlanta Games way back when. We had to construct a fair numer of venues and the metro was about 3.6M at the time (it has massively grown since then to approx 6.3M).
