OK, what I mean by that is I am now feeling like I'm in the groove. The obnoxious blocking high moved into the sweet spot for the PNW: allowing arctic air to plunge down but still be onshore enough to pick up moisture over the North Pacific. Did I mention that we are so proud of our local team, the SEAHAWKS…
Anyway, I had a very nice time this morning riding the 9" that fell since yesterday. Mt Bachelor doesn't provide snow % figures but it did fall at, I don't know, 4 degrees? I snapped off a few pics on my phone, but it was so cold it blacked out.
John Ingersoll and I rode some sweet lines off Summit. They allowed us to hike and drop in off the top for the first time this season. He owns High Cascade Snowboard Camp, which is where both my sons have or currently are working, so we are pretty major bros. Earlier I started out in the West Bowls off NWX, and after some dicey ridge traversing, I dropped into some pitches all you guys would be rewinding in your mind for a while…
Quote from the Snow Report:
"If you were up here today you know that words can't describe how amazing the first few hours, and then the whole day, was. Incredible snow, bluebird skies, light winds and mellow crowds. Summit opened at 9:45 allowing everyone to get the most out of the fresh snow. The skiing is still amazing as I write this."
Riding up Pine Martin at about nine AM.
Things are starting to fill in. That same storm Admin is referring to comes through here first.
