Bachelor, sick conditions & Dirksen Derby news

That was one great storm cycle that hit the west. We got our share starting on Sunday, which was the day they ran the finals for the Dirksen Derby.

This is my trophy for 2nd place in the “Older and Wiser” division. Only Gerry Lopez (Mr. Pipeline) was faster on Sunday. This snowboard-only banked slalom event drew over 400 competitors and has become a really big deal.

Monday was a big storm day and it dumped all day with cold temps and high winds. I layed off after a busy weekend of riding and Nordic skiing, thinking Tuesday will be the day.
I was correct as yesterday the report read 8” new with over 46” so far in the storm cycle. Very cold temps prevailed and we had a sick powder day, waist deep on NWX, no one getting stuck.

No storm photos, sorry. This shows the west side of Bachelor from Sparks Lake last week. We took the snow machine down to get a tree. This side of the mountain, served by both the Outback and Northwest (and Summit) are the steeper tree run areas. Over here was where it was good yesterday.

Current Conditions this morning (12/18) reports another 4” new overnight with an 81” base and 104” at mid-mountain. YTD is 161”.
