warm warm warm. snow clumping up on the skins all day long. a week ago it was too dam cold. now it's too warm. oh well. i still had a very enjoyable day. good weather, good company, good grass and good snow. good times!

we got two laps in dropping into Beehive. very wet snow. the first run was early enough where the wetness was tolerable. however, we noticed a lot of pinwheels developing and one small natural "sluff". for our second run we opted to a more protected area next to a huge rock face. kind of like a couloir but not really. we were right. nice cold snow was preserved in here. great turns! slow moving on the way out!!!!

pit:
30ish degree slope. southwest aspect. about 3' deep. top two feet was 4 finger dense. icey layer at 2' below surface. bond was ok between the two. 13 taps to shear. 18 taps to slide the block off the column. Quality 2 shear. sugary snow about 8" up from the ground. Moderate was the correct rating for today.
