The first question, for me, is the toughie. The second one is much easier. <BR> <BR>By early December, most major Vermont resorts should have the lifts running, so you're by no means restricted to Killington. While they're likely to have the most open terrain, depending on natural snowfall, virtually any major Vermont resort will be available for turns. Pickin's may be slim, or plentiful ... early December is a true crapshoot. <BR> <BR>Back to the first question, it's tough to beat Stowe's old New England charm, but it can also be pricey, depending upon where you stay. Don't rule out stumbling just across the border into Québec's Eastern Townships (Mont Orford, Mont Sutton, Owl's Head, Bromont, Mont-Glen, and a couple of other smaller hills), for I've <I>never</I> seen a group of people erect more holiday lights per capita than the Québecois. The exchange rate plays to your advantage, too.
