Big changes @ Mt Bachelor

Sorry no pics...I left the darn thing on the counter. Nobody would have stopped to wait for me to setup anyway.
I had a "board meeting" with my favorite ski couple Dee and Jim Brennan. They're hella good riders too, but Dee wanted to ski today. So I grabbed the nice pair of new Volkl M-Rocks (177cm, 130-94-119) mounted with Dynafit ST's that were supposed to be (for me) for Christmas. Oops, my bad!
We've had some 45" in the last three days with over 23" just this morning, falling at 16 degrees. Last I checked we had a 58-63" base this afternoon and it was still clanking. Thank you mi hija!
Tomorrow is hinting at a clear day so the NW Express is for sure and maybe the top will go as well. We went from just OK to insane in like three days.
The most amazing sight on an amazing morning was our new President and GM of Mt Bachelor SHOVELING at the loading deck at Pine Martin Chair. Matt Janney, you are the man! There is tremendous optimism at our ski area after years of neglect and lousy management. Yes, it's still owned by Powdr Corp (bad), but now run by a guy who apparently knows how to run a ski area (good). I feel sorry for the folks back at Alpine Meadows, where Matt has been stationed for some years, but he is from Bend and that's the kind of guy we needed here. I know it's still our honeymoon but the place is starting to feel just right.

Don't feel sorry for Alpine Meadows. Powdr Corp sold it to a Bay Area guy, who also bought Homewood.

Perhaps now we know why Powdr Corp did not inspire the emnity at Alpine that it did at Bachelor and this summer at Killington.
