Big Red Cats - Rossland B.C. Feb 1 2011

No doubt they have world class tree skiing being nearby to Red Mt. BUT that also means low elevation and ~300 inch snowfall vs. 400 at Whitewater and more at the cat operations north of Nelson.

I couldn't get much out of that video in terms of how good the terrain and snow was on your day.

BTW, how do I post so the vid shows in the post?

You simply use the "youtube" BBcode button when creating a post and put the link between the BBcode tags that the button places in your post, like this:

Code:
[youtube]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xn7Vl87HUNU[/youtube]

Need help? Simply mouse over the youtube button and you'll find instructions that tell you precisely the format the URL has to be in. Screw that up, and it won't work. Just ask mbaydala!

Here ya go:

Low tech guy in a high tech world

No fresh snow in Rossland for a while so I hooked a ride with the fine folks at Big Red Cats for a day and had a blast. Blue bird clear and cold - just the way I like it. No pictures and limited video as the helmet cam wasn't cooperating but I was able to throw this together...This video was shot on the bottom of one of the runs where the upper part was much steeper and took us through trees. The cat mates included 2 Australians (both cold fish) and the rest were Canadians most of which from Vancouver. One of the Van guys had an altimeter watch and said we did 9 runs and about 4K metres (13K feet). There hadn't been fresh for a few days but the guides (Keith the lead & Chris the tailgunner plus 2 other tg's in training) were excellent and did their best to find us pretty good lines.
If you are ever in the Rossland/Nelson area, check out B.R.C. - Kieran and Paula run a 1st class operation.
