Big Sky, Moonlight Basin Open Interconnect

Sometimes logic prevails. It only took a year, not too bad. We discussed this and other issues regarding Big Sky and Moonlight in some detail last October: http://www.firsttracksonline.com/boards ... c.php?t=57

This interconnect is much more valuable than those in Utah. Due to varying exposures and the option to ski north off Lone Peak into Moonlight, I would strongly recommend that any destination visitor pay the extra premium in ticket price.

sounds good to me! though i was planning on skipping a pass for next season and focusing more on the backcountry. we'll see what the pass prices are like though. either buy a pass or a winter bag and some gore xcr pants. maybe i'll just fork it out for the few days i ride lifts. choices choices choices......

I keep wondering if the Yellowstone Club might ever join up to Big Sky/Moonlight too?

I realize the Yellowstone Club is a highly exclusive place (1m+ net worth, etc) However, it seems like that is a real estate play and when the developer finishes all of the lots.....I doubt the owners would want support all of the operating costs. Some changes will probably be required becuase of the exclusivity of the development.

Didn't Arrowhead near/now part of Beaver Creek originally try to be a lesser Yellowstone Club?

Nonetheless, Big Sky is really becoming one large place.

yellowstone club is connected...

I know it's connected. But I thought the Yellowstone Club was closed to the skiing public. The connection allows Yellowstone members to connect to Big Sky and return home, but not vice versa.

Has that changed?

oic i ment that they can come in... stupid warren miller and other rich people

No, and don't expect it to unless ownership/philosophy of Yellowstone Club changes. I was part of a media tour there in 2001 http://webpages.charter.net/tcrocker818/yclbguid.htm and it did not appear to be "a real estate play" as much as an entrepreneur's vision of a unique "country club" where he retains strong control of the ambience and culture.

As I see it, Yellowstone Club needs to sell sufficient real estate to endow its maintenance costs. Owner Tom Blixseth envisions memberships being passed down through extended families to the next generation.

Only if Yellowstone Club does not sell sufficient memberships/real estate would the business plan change IMHO.
