ONE IMPRESSIVE ASPECT OF THIS EVENT IS THAT THE DEEP INSTABILITY LINGERS FOR A SUCH A CONSIDERABLE LENGTH OF TIME ACROSS NRN UT. AFTER THE DEEP INSTABILITY SHIFTS OVER NRN UT MON AFTERNOON IT LINGERS THROUGH THE DAY ON WEDNESDAY. THIS LONG PERIOD OF MOIST UNSTABLE WEST AND NORTHWEST FLOW ACROSS NRN UT WILL YIELD 2-3 FEET IN SOME MOUNTAIN LOCATIONS BY WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON WITH MORE CERTAINLY POSSIBLE.
It sure looks like a big week for the SLC boys :) NWS is really going off on this one..

Yes! Yes! Yes! My son and I are scheduled to arrive at SLC at 12:05 AM on Tuesday, and depart at 11:20 PM Thursday. We are definitely psyched about this and are hoping for the "worst." Bring it on!

If I'm reading the Avalanche Center report correctly, I think your stay in Utah is a bit short in terms of getting control work done so you can ski some of that new snow before you leave Thursday.

Always the glass half full, eh, Tony? I can't get out of a meeting on Wednesday  so I'm taking Tuesday and Thursday off. 11 inches already at Solitude, and a wall of thunder snow just moved in here at the house. Even with limited control work, the skiing isn't going to suck.

I read that avalanche report as Thursday being the first day worth taking off work. There are going to be a whole lot of days in LCC over the next 5 months better than Tuesday/Wednesday IMHO, and as I recall admin's vacation days are not unlimited.

tirolerpeter's trip seems strange. If you're paying to come to SLC, why not stay through the weekend?

tirolerpeter gets to ski fresh Utah pow with his son for three days. Most people would think that's pretty cool and fortuitous...

don't forget the trip report!

The 20" of new today at Snowbird spent with Tirolerpeter and son didn't suck. Report to follow later once I get caught up.

Marc, please let us know what the base is like.

If our WA trip falls through, you may end up seeing us (me n Frank).

Booking a trip now is still a gamble. We are trying to maximize our chances of fresh deep powder.

Two "Flatlanders" on their first day out for the season struck "white gold." Marc was kind and patient enough to wait for us as we floundered through unaccustomed early deep powder. Flight and other delays left us woefully short of sleep, and jumping off at 11,000 feet directly from sea level left us sucking wind big time. Nevertheless, we are looking forward to tomorrow with more snow on the way. We only have three days for personal reasons, so we must leave Thus evening.
