My back was improved but not 100% when I woke up. So I headed up Whistler to postpone my time with Extremely Canadian, then returned to Blackcomb, where about 10 of our NASJA group was staying at the Marriott about 300 feet up the hill.
Snow and fog were just as much as at Mt. Baker the previous day, but I selected smoother terrain, my back loosened up and I skied well enough.
I fortuitously arrived at the Glacier chair about 10 minutes after it opened and skied a quick and a mostly fresh lap down its chair line. Then I went up the T-bar and over to 7th Heaven to look for better visibility. The upper terrain near the lift was windswept, so next 2 runs I traversed far skier's left and found excellent fresh tracks in Xhiggy's Meadow and Lakeside Bowl.
Returning to the Glacier side I skied into Secret Bowl and encountered one other skier, asked where he was going and followed him down a powdery Cougar Chute. After lunch I went up Spanky's Ladder and conservatively skied Diamond Bowl in less than ideal visibility but forgiving fresh snow. 22,200 vert, 9K of powder.
NASJA had its one group dinner at the excellent Hy's Steakhouse.
