Straight scoop from up here is 8"-10" of snow yesterday and last night before changeover to ice pellets in the wee hours of the morning. Ice pelltage (grauple [sp?]) was the order of the day until a brief period of rain around 3:00 - 4:30 p.m., at which point it began to snow again, but has pretty much stopped now. That's at 2100'. News from the valley floors was freezing rain then rain all day.

Skiing last night was pretty epic. Spillway could be swallowed in huge gulps of smoke. Powder in the dark was a possibility I had not considered, but was able to fully explored the ramifications of such a thing last night on a few reserved areas. Shweet. Corporate Race league course was rutted by about the 10th run, but very fast with a strong tailwind, of all things. I'd say at least 2/3 of the folks showed up for that event and there were still dozens of folks enjoying the powder right up until lift close at 10pm.

Today was of course, completely different. Got out for about 1.5 hours this morning in the midst of the pelltage. The stuff skied like sand. Boarders loved it, folks letting their skis run a little loved it, too. Other folks had a tough time with it. All in all pretty fun. Once it got warm things got even thicker, though. Liftees struggled with 50mph+ gusts all day long, though the upper lift was reopened at about 3:30 pm after winds died down. Even one of the lower lifts shut down for about 45 minutes in afternoon. Only the 2nd time that lift's been on wind hold in about 5 years, apparently.

Cringing at the thought of all this gloppy sand-snow freezing solid tonight. Groomed out areas should actually be pretty good in the a.m., but trees and such might be a tad tricky.
