when asked what my best pow day of this season for me had been so far, gulf of slides in feb was the winner and yesterday was a close 2nd. today blew them all away and then some.
up at 4am, on the road at 5, and skinning just b4 6am. what a nice tour up this morning towards the brighton bc in another 6 inches of new on top of the foot or so from the past 2 days. our skin track was just barely visible from yesterday and our tracks from yesterday were long gone, all covered up, clean slate. when it's just the two of us, craig and i get after it pretty hard. we pick a spot that'll offer multiple aspects, elevations and pitch. yesterday was face shots with goggles, today the same but with sunglasses. every lap off of figure 8 left me cleaning the fluff out of my sunglasses at the bottom-good stuff. we put in a couple of skin tracks to access a bunch of options and worked it from there. my long run of the day was from the highest peak in upper bcc, wolverine peak. my run took me down the upper reaches of wolverine bowl-perfect pow and not a track to be seen. exit stage left to a beautiful bottomless stupid chute where craig had laid the only other track-room for two. the 3rd and last part of the run took me down the knob, high skiers right of 1000 turn gully. perfect pow t2b and always protected from the sun. speaking of sun, man it doesn't take long for it to turn the snow into a mess. luckily we stayed on dry shady aspects till or exit run down brighton at 1pm. 7 hours of skinning and skiing and done by 1pm. perfect.
tomorrow? either high elevation north facing for pow, or low south facing for quasi corn.
one things for sure, it's gonna be an early one, again.
