Brighton UT Very Underrated.....

I usually do a trip once a year to Utah, and Brighton is my favorite. Located at the head of Big Cottonwood Canyon, Brighton's base area is higher in elevation than nearby Alta. The lift system gets you to all parts of the mountain from the base area in one ride. It has three high speed quads, easy parking, a base lodge that is well designed. The layout of the terrain means there is always an area that has protected snow.

At Alta I have encountered some long lines, over ten minutes, for slow lifts. The only real drawback at Brighton is lack of many steeps.

The important thing for me is that at Brighton I spend more time actually skiing rather than all the other stuff.

I'd agree with you, but that annoying flat in the center of most of Brighton's terrain drives me nuts. Milli is amazing terrain, no doubt.

Most of the liftline issues at Alta will be alleviated this season with the base-to-summit detach quad that's replacing both the Collins and Germania chairs. However, it'll still be aggro competition for freshies off the High T, maybe even more so now.

The two secrets for freshies on the Wasatch front range are Solitude and Pow Mow, IMO.
