Well basically you can sum it up thus: no snow.
I started with two days at Lk. Louise to build up my legs, and it wasn't too bad as long as you stayed off the main runs. There was generally some snow in the trees and bumps, and the poma-served area was all nice crud. I can't really ski crud (don't get a lot of it here out east) but it was a good workout.
Kicking Horse was pretty good on day one (Tuesday) and I took advantage of my newfound legs to practice jumping into the bumps off CPR. They don't do a lot of grooming there, so the snow was pretty skiiable even in the ski-outs at the bottom of the hill. Day two was a little nasty as the runs started getting scrapped, and stumps and rocks were showing through the bottom of the bumps on most runs from 1/2 way down the hill to the bottom. They closed the chair serving Fuez, so that really reduced the terrain I felt comfortable in. I loved the hill, I'll definitely go back again, but hopefully I'll get snow.
Sunshine on Thursday, which was notable primarily for the sun. The main area was fine but apparently Goat was pretty scraped (normally I'd ski Goat, but by this point it was day 5 of 9 - 3:30 with no breaks). Norquay on Friday (they go by the hour and I had to catch a plane), which had major amounts of grass showing.
So basically if anyone's looking to go to the Calgary area, DON'T. Wait for some snow!
