I was interested to read about this attempt for various reasons but the one thing that did make my eyebrows raise a little was the claim that it was "all" 28 Cali resorts.

California's 28 Resorts in 4 Days

Can anyone say 100% that there are only 28 resorts open and if so what they are? Or are those just the ones that have opened for the season with others to follow as the snow arrives or are there some small places that do open that they just ain't going to?

Would be interested to know as California is one of the states that I have not really been to much other than Mammoth or June and I am seriously considering a good portion of my trip this winter including some of the lesser known resorts(from a UK perspective).

Nice set of links.

Checking the more obscure:
Granlibakken is no longer a ski resort
Coppervale is at Mt. Lassen. The page dates from 2005, so I suspect it's not operating either.

There are 8 more that I have not visited.

Granlibakken seems to still be up and running from what I gather from their website and the guys doing the 28 in 4 days skied there. Coppervale is interesting as I cant find anything other than that article from 2005 although the picture from the 28/4 trip says Open and gives opening hours.

These ones I am unsure about other than obviously Waterman and Kratka which are spoken about on here. Any idea if any of these still operate or if any others not listed do? The more obscure the better Tony!

Buckhorn
Cedar Pass Snow Park
Cottage Springs - resort near Arnold(30km from Bear Valley)
Montecito Sequoia Resort
Mount Waterman
Plumas - Eureka Ski Bowl
Ski Gold Mountain - closed resort??
Ski Green Valley - no idea...
Snowcrest/Kratka - destroyed by fire
Stover Mountain - resort near Chester
