Much cooler air will filter into northern and central Utah... along with southwest Wyoming during Labor Day... dropping snow levels to near 10000 feet. Some accumulating snow can be expected above this elevation across the higher terrain of northern Utah. As this system moves east of the region Monday night... clear skies may allow temperatures to fall below freezing across some northern Utah valleys.

I'm doing a 42 mile section of the PCT near Mt Jefferson (next major volcano south of Mt Hood); I'd better bring a jacket. The snow has barely melted off and it's starting up again. There was tons of blow-down on the section we did two weeks ago on our Three Sisters Wilderness PCT traverse.

I'm jonesing. It's been two weeks without the boards on my feet. (Before that I'd skied every week since November 7th.)

I'm getting cranky so soon.

The latest forecast is for up to 6" above 8,000 feet from Sunday night into Monday. I may just have to take a drive on Monday to see all the pretty little snowflakes.

6 inches? Where'd you see that? If that happens, I might have to break out the snow shovel :D

On a side note, as it is Labor Day weekend, there has been a steady flow of campers heading past our house up into the Uintas for the past few days. I wonder how many know about the dramatic weather change coming this weekend? I imagine a lot of them are coming from SLC where it is supposed to be about 100 today so they probably aren't going to be thinking to prepare for winter weather.

 Yeah, I noticed that a few times last year. I do like one weatherman on that station, maybe cause he always seems like he might have had a few cocktails before the telecast. Don't remember his name, but he's the older one.

That's the guy who made the comment last night. His name escapes me as well. The only one whose name I can remember regularly is Ken Eubank.
