I'M BACK!!!

so after puttin in 2 weeks of hard time behind FTO iron bars, i got let out so that i could continue my quest for really pissing people off, no, not true, not true at all, well sort of O:) little did FTO administrators know, that my girl Emily busted me out in the middle of my term in the middle of the night to take me to colorado skiing for my birthday, which was jan 8th, 37 years young now, and a whole 10 years Emily's senior for which she now refers to me as pimp daddy.

flight, tranfers, gold passes good for all of colorado, cept the vail resorts, rental car, condo in winter park, and a young gorgeous naked body, all for me for 4 days, for frickin FREE! not a bad birthday, not bad at all. with her, i didn't give a $hit if i didn't ski at all, but being that she is an ex CVA and college racer, and rips, skiing with her is, well, ok, maybe not quite as fun as some of the other activities that we partake in, but it sure don't $uck.

day 1) copper. why not? the hill was white, and in my book, white is right (i've almost gotten myself into trouble for that one, but i like it and don't give a fahk) 6-8 inches the day b4 and couldn't tell a bit. had to go out of bounds to ski untracked pow and almost got in trouble for it, patrol are tough out there! the mountain skied pretty well and the day was cold and bluebird. the steeper stuff off of skiers right was fun long bumps, and man do i love bumps. if you can rip in the bumps, you can rip anywhere, and if you can't rip bumps, well, i feel sorry for you and you may not get as many chix, and you can NEVER have too many chix. acceptable day fer sure, kinda like skiing back east on a mediocre day, but with thin snow cover.

day 2) mary jane. now we're talkin! what a hill! bumps, bumps, and more bumps, with trees, trees and more trees with bumps and a nice foofy little bowl at the top. plenty of funky steeps and fast lifts. hit up winter park a little too, which was cool enough, but nothing like jane. i liked jane much more than copper, had a great feel to it, and not too busy for a warm sunny sunglass bluebird saturday.

day 3) steamboat. much different than i expected, much steeper and sustained terrain than i've ever read or heard about. great bump runs, did i mention that i love bumps? the aspen glades were cute. wasn't feeling the boat as much as jane for some reason, so back to jane for our 4th and final warm bluebird day.

day 4) jane, love jane. bumps, bumps, chalky smooth summit bowl, trees, sun, fun.

i hadn't skied in colorado in 15 years, and it was nice to be back.the snow wasn't powder, we didn't hit any storms, but somethin about the vibe there, or lack there of really put me at ease and allowed me to really enjoy the skiing for what it was. good enough snow, of course NOTHING like the 30 inch dump that i'd hit at cannon in nh a few days b4 flying out where even on 185cm black diamond justsice at 115mm at the waist, that every turn was over the head all morning long, but the skiing was just nice sunny cruizing on the atomic rt 86 with fritchis, the best all round skis i've ever been lucky enough to step into. colorado seemed so much less bro-brah than so many other places that i've been out west or in the east, a nice change.

so ya, a fun trip with my sweetie. i will attach a report below from another forum that i frequent. it's pretty funny stuff and a good easy read. all 3 pages have some humor. there are pics and a vid thrown in. this is serious stuff!

Glad you had a nice trip. You will find the bro-brah crap in places ...cough Beach at the Basin cough but overall very true and a large part of the reason I ended up out here...

ya, a-basin is the last place i skied in colorado over memorial weekend of 1995, and i never felt the need to go back, kinda like i've never gone back to alta after working there in 95/96. places like that just smell bad to me for some reason. i do really like the bird for some reason though, go figure, just a feeling in my gut.

i'd live and ski in colorado......no prob. nice spot ya got there! the backcountry smelled eerily scary to me, so i'd have to learn the ways of that there. wasatch? easy. prezzies? easy.

chricC report from telluride is DELUXE! def makes me wanna check that place out!

i'll be back out fer sure!

Jammy sod, and I ain't referring to the skiing haha.

I loved Steamboat and had arguably my best turns ever on one of either North St Pat's or East Face.

Great stuff.
