Cold!
My son and I hit Copper on new years day, always one of the best days to hit the hills since hardly anyone is up and skiing, especially early. In fact we lost a total of about 10 minutes combined in I70 slow downs going both up and back. A very low number for that trek in recent years. Of course part of the price was very cold temps. 1F as we pulled into the parking lot at 8:20a and much colder up higher during the morning.
I let my son mostly determine our skiing patterns which included several trips to the new Eagle lift to ride the gondola cabins. Due to the cold it actually turned out to be a solid decision since we were able to keep skiing all morning without stopping to warm up until normal lunch time. I was able to talk him into hitting Spaulding bowl - twice late in the morning and eventually after lunch we hit Copper bowl and then Union bowl and Sierra lift terrain before a quick lap or so on Timberline to finish up where we finally encountered something resembling a crowd at 2:30p when the lines were probably 5+ minutes.
Surprisingly I did pull the cell phone out for a pic or two, but not more than that.
