Very similar to two days ago: Copper Dec 30th
Biggest differences would be having Jr with me and getting to some very soft snow on Tucker. This time a somewhat tired later start and some surprise traffic at Floyd Hill on I70. Still getting to top of Super B by 10:30a. Hitting Resolution, lift just like last time with Storm King laps in Spaulding bowl. No new snow this time, but very soft still and flurrying out all day (10" fell the 0night after this ski day so I missed the flakes). Also a couple of laps down into the Excelerator lift that my son wanted to do.
We stopped by the new Aerie lodge at mid-Mtn. It's nice looking, but despite it huge size I'm not convinced it even holds as many as the old lodge used to. But you can do sit-down meals on the upper level... much of it is clearly for events and night dinners, etc...
After that we headed down to get on Flyer to make our way to Tucker which was actually open (Flyer had our only lift line of the whole day, mostly ski on with few people even riding the lifts we were on). While clearly soft the runs under the 3 bears lift were clearly skied out, but it looked like fresher snow over by the Taco. We ended up with multiple laps of wind dense, but un-skied or lightly skied on Taco and Western. It was by far the best snow of the day. My guess was that they only opened a couple runs on Tucker the prior day and didn't open Taco area until the 1st (they were still blasting in the am on Tucker for example). The snow was far too deep and fresh for just a wind re-surface in that area.
Eventually heading back to Sierra for a couple of laps then riding the new 6 pack Timberline as the better lifts closed up for the day.
