Looks to me from my CPU in So FLA that this storm is missing the SLC resorts and will be hammering So CO and then Central and Northern CO. NM propoably too. This is a bummer for me as my folks just moved to Sandy UT. Any pics from tommarrow or Sun would be great.

PS great site by the way!

you forgot to mention the northeast in your snow tracking. how dare you. northern vermont could easily see 3-4+ feet, yes, the west isn't the only place where snowfall can be measured in feet, by the time it stops snowing late next week. that'll be great for the natural snowbase we've been skiing on for a month or so.
can't wait to see what happens, the skins are ready for when it's nuking monday keeping most lifts on windhold.
pray for snow

I was up at Snowbird this afternoon (opening day) and I had to quit around 2PM. It was blowing hard, snowing hard, and visibility was getting very low.

Well although I don't think we are going to Get 2 Feet in the Wasatch I think a foot is probably not out of the question. Right now 12:30 am at 7000 Ft in Park City we have about 5.5 inches of heavy wet snow, with temps around 30. The peak is reporting a temp of 22 right now so I'd bet the snow is a lot lighter up there and they probably have close to 1.5 times this. The Snowbird cam is also showing just about 7 inches.

Thanks for the update guys. Just got back in from some ocean fishing, 80 deg and flat seas. Still thinking about powder though, unbelivable!
Talked to my folks around 12 mt time from snowbird. She said there was about a foot. Looks like there are still bands coming from the south, don't know if that favors snowbird alta or what.
Icelantic- I hope you guys get pounded! I grew up skiing in Sugerbush/ Stowe. I need to pay a visit to smugs soon, I have a couple of employees friends that I meet at the So FLa ski show that said they would "show" me around. To bad it is harder/longer to go there then UTah or CO. I fly american airlines cheap so from west palm to Dallas then to all major sk towns out west.

Anyone who lives out there have some comments for the warm up coming? How does it affect the mountains and how well do they hold snow? I am going to Park City/the Canyons. How do those resorts fair during these warmups? I live out in the Midwest and a warmup is a disaster for our hills. Thanks.

mountains that don't got no snow don't hold snow too good during a warm up unless you rockin canaan valley west virginy, the best most excellent overlooked ski destination in the whole world. think i'm kiddin? i'm not. the place blew me away. my girlie let me in on it, now i'm hooked. go whitegrass, go timberline. it does snow there fo sho.

By western standards, not well. But in December the sun is low and normally there wouldn't be much melting.

On the negative side there really was no natural snow on the ground at all in these areas in November, so a very thin snowbase might tend to disappear faster than a normal base would shrink. I would not go near the Park City group as a destination this season before mid-January at the earliest.
