Custom Boots???

I'm starting over (again) with trying to get that elusive custom fit on my one-skinny, one-fat feet.

I'm considering Surefoot (they have a shop on the Killington access road), even though my buddy reps the http://www.strolzboots.com line (which I don't care for because they use leather liners).

Does anyone have any expereince with either of these? Or other foamed-in liners?

They're both pricy at $900-1000 including new boots, orthotics, and the fitting, but every time I think about he pain I've gone though, the money pales in comparison to the idea of total comfort.

IIRC, DaleBoot, based here in SLC, manufactures truly custom boots.

Thanks, but that's a bit of a commute.

Not if you combine it with a ski trip!

Actually, I'll be out for a week at Powder Mountain in late January, but I'd rather get fit closer to home and get some break-in days in before my ski vacation. I'll be doing some back-country touring and would not want any break-in issues to slow me down. Plus, I may want to go back for a few tweaks later in the season.

i believe that dale boots can do a custom from measurements on their website, then you can try them out at home and correct if need be in utah. i know they stand behind their work, and have a good guarentee.

I decided to try blowing out the shells a bit to see if that helps (it should) before laying down the big bucks. They're in the shop til Friday.
