Figured ide use some days at dv as its been snowing all day. Never really explored the place. I'm impressed. Endless trees runs. Wasnt crowded... we where alone in most of the runs.
Ate at steins...very nice.
Compared to the zoo at pc...well...I think I'm going to look at getting a job there. $4000.00 pass..might be worth it. Mountain host...
We shall see.

Crowds are certainly way better. But you might want to ski 'typical' conditions too. Literally anywhere skis great in a snow cycle.

I have Ikon reservation to be at Deer Valley next Fri, Feb. 28. I will probably ski from East Village to check it out and I will be driving towards Steamboat after.

Sorry, I still don't get it.

Which are vastly inferior to LCC/BCC essentially 100% of the time before Jan. 15 or after Mar. 15 and probably still over half the time during the core of the season.

All of my Deer Valley days with FTO posts, recommended reading for a reality check:
Feb. 17, 2007 My TRs were brief back then, an OK but not great day.
Jan. 18, 2009 Welcome to eastern manmade subsurface.
Mar. 31, 2011 Spring comparison with the Bird the next day was glaring.
Mar. 9, 2019 Deer Valley is not immune from Ikon crowds.
Jan. 30, 2021 Deer Valley has its share of powder competition too.
Jan. 31, 2022 More manmade subsurface. Groomer skiing 2 days later at Jackson Hole was vastly superior.

KIngslug's place in Kamas must be an awful lot nicer than the one in Draper that he is so lured to the Wasatch Back/PC/DV. I'm sure Kamas is way more pleasant in the summer at higher altitude/less heat but in winter for skiing, no I REALLY don't get it.

If he can get a job at Deer Valley, why not Brighton or Solitude?

The Ikon presumably gets him 7 days each at DV, Brighton and AltaBird plus unlimited at Solitude. 7 days only at AltaBird does not cut it if you live in Utah and have kingslug's ski skills. $4K for a DV pass vs. what, $2,500 for AltaBird, is an insane choice.

Well...pc has not used me much so far. So..
Ill see how jackie likes alta once she gets her lessons done in march. She likes pc as its easy to get around. Solitude i didnt like as much..but have not explored honycomb.
Alta requires a level 1 to teach which i could not get as pc has barely let me teach.
Ill figure it out. Alta is my favorite by far..but I was very impressed with the tree skiing at dv.
We shall see
And i would not pay 4 grand for a dv pass. If I work there..its free.

I was very impressed with the tree skiing at dv.
But the number of days in a season that those trees are any good are few and far between with the altitude, exposure and vastly lower snowfall.

I do assume it's very hard to get teaching jobs at Alta or Snowbird. That's why I mentioned the BCC areas.

She likes pc as its easy to get around.
??? That is a description that would never occur to me about an area with such sprawling acreage and few sustained fall lines.

If you live in Utah and Alta is your favorite area I can't see why it would not be automatic to have an Alta pass. It even gets you free parking!
