We decided not to brave LCC on a Saturday with 10-17 inches new snow in Wasatch resorts. Admin and Andy both advised us that BCC would be no better for the driving/parking, so we went to Deer Valley.
We got out the door 7:45, which wasn’t early enough. We arrived at Deer Valley just after 9 and were not on the hill until 9:40. It was after 10 when skied our first well churned powder on Edgar's Alley. We then skied two Mayflower runs, Liz there.
The morning had some sunny breaks, one which had this view down to Jordanelle Reservoir.
Temps were in the 25-30 range, mostly overcast with a few flurries in the afternoon
We crossed back to Silver Lake Lodge, arriving about noon. We made a reservation for 1:45 and worked our way to Empire Bowl where I thought the snow was lighter and and fluffier than at Mayflower. We were able to take one survey run from Lady Morgan before returning to Silver Lake for lunch.
In the COVID era, Deer Valley is a place where it's worth going inside for a sit down lunch. We had Nieman Ranch bratwurst, tomato basil soup and beef mole tacos.
After lunch we went back to Bald Mountain and skied a bumpy Reward. It is remarkable how many moguls we skied today, and it was similar in March two years ago. In both cases it was a new snow Saturday with a lot of people. It's easy for moguls to grow in this scenario, but at least they were soft and well spaced. Lift lines were around 5 minutes except for Empire which was more like 10.
At this point we were ready to call it a day and so rode Crown Point and had a relaxing "real estate" run on Kimberley to the base. We skied 16,000 vertical and were on the road about 3:40pm. This gave us time to visit admin in his new RV in Draper for an hour before dinner.
