Deer Valley proposed expansion

I don't think this has been made public yet, but some other people may have heard already. I heard from a friend thru another friend about a proposed expansion project at Deer Valley that I thought I'd pass along. The new pod will be to the east of the Mayflower and Sultan lifts, and basically run the rest of the way down the mountain to highway 40, where a new base area and hotel will be built. The new pod will be served by 3-4 lifts, though there was no indication of what type of lifts they will be. The new pod will add close to 1,000 new acres of terrain, all of which would have snowmaking.

I'm not sure what the timeline is for the project, but I would imagine it's still a couple years. This is in addition, of course, to the other big project they're working on, the Main Street Gondola. Last I heard they're looking at an alignment that would take it from the Brew Pub parking lot, up along Marsac Ave., thru 2 angle stations, and arrive somewhere in the Silver Lake area. It would run year round, and possibly as late as 11pm so foot traffic could use it to access restaurants. I'm very excited about this lift, and think it's a great idea. I know the Silver Lake area is a bit tricky in terms of bringing in a gondola, and I just hope that they choose a top terminal location that makes it easily accessible to the slopes without extensive walking.

Has anyone else heard any other details about either of these 2 projects?

I haven't heard anything about this but will inquire once I am back at DV this summer. The expansion would be a boon for locals who prefer the Jordanelle entry for its convenience, avoiding PC traffic. Instead of taking Crown Point, down to Deer Crest lift, up, and down Jordanelle run... you can ski down directly from Bald Mtn in the afternoon.
Any area that is off to the side, intended for hotel guests could become an interesting contrarian move. The so-called "secret" areas of X-files and beyond were getting a little too much attention, recently. On the downside, the area you mention probably gets less snow than anywhere else on the mountain, even Little Baldy.
