Did any of you Utards ski today?????

Yep. Skied Alta with visiting friend Patti. It was deep. Soft, too. Some untracked even. Skidog called to me from the lift, and we ran into tirolpeter and his friend Paul, and some other folks I know. Sometimes we could see well, other times not so much. A lot of open terrain, but some significant stuff wasn't. We did all the usual suspects except for the ones we didn't.

Yes Sharon, some of us did ski today. I got up to Albion around 10 AM. After I skied a couple of quick warmup runs off Supreme I hooked up with my friend Paul (Another east coast retiree like me who now lives in UT.) at Alf's. Our first effort was to head up Supreme and do a hike up into the Catherine's area. We traversed out and got incredible powder in a drop down So Long. At one point my tails kicked out and I took a dump. The snow was so deep I couldn't get up. Luckily I was near a steep drop and finally managed to "swim" close enough to drop my legs over the edge and get back on my skis. Paul has skied Alta every season for the past 10 years, and knows a heck of a lot of powder shots; many of which require no hiking. Again, we worked some additional trails off Supreme. The powder in the trees around Vicky's and in White Squaw was knee to crotch deep and totally untracked. It continued to snow significantly most of the day and Paul and I continued to find POW everywhere. We also made some runs off the Sugarloaf lift. There are some great runs like Running Dog Nose, Keyhole Gulch and Glory Gulch that were just chock full of powder that we did a couple of times each also. Considering the amount of snow that has fallen in the last two days I was surprised at the lack of crowds. We worked the single's line at Supreme and rarely waited more then two or three minutes. Most times Sugarloaf was literally "ski on." Tomorrow is promising to be a "Bluebird Day" and temps should get into the 30's. It will be GLORIOUS! \:D/

Thanks for posting guys. There are a lot of people out here in computerland who want to hear about it and to have some vicarious powder moments to break up our work days.

Give us a shout when you get here!

Skied at the Bird with NY friends Jimmy & Sylvia (they own a week of vacation time at The Cliff) and their friend Dave. Everything soft and wall to wall ('cept for the Cirque ridge-line, as usual, much to the consternation of the visitors, evidenced by the complaints after leaving lots of ptex). Started with 4 or so runs in Mineral Basin - Cham 1, the gully skier's right of the MBX lift line, something out by the Bookends, and something else I don't remember. The highlight was getting the rope drop on Road to Provo, giving us multiple untracked runs down Old Man's, the Rasta Chutes and Knucklehead. Wandered around in some other nooks and crannies. Couldn't convince the flatlanders to make the hike to High Baldy, let alone beyond, to a freshly opened Livin' the Dream.

The low-light of the day is that my cell phone is somewhere up there, probably in Mineral Basin or around Shot 10 in the Cirque.
