Did Jay get hit with the rain that much of Vt. got on Feb. 23?

It's my understanding that they saw some rain, but not near as much as the areas from Rutland south. Cannon closed on Sunday. Even Orford, a bit further north of JP cancelled their lessons program due to the rain.

JP is claiming 6" of powder last night. They quickly upgraded all their reports from granular to PP. Cross your fingers that the upper mtn is in pretty good shape. Even with the torrents of rain, I still see over a foot in metro Boston.

I personally don't think 6" is enough to call it PP, but hey, I wish them well - I love the place.

This is not a first hand report.I would expect alot of the open slopes, especially up high to be fairly windscoured until some new snow. The woods however should be spectacular with lots of deep drifts and fresh snow for days.Perhaps the entrances to the glades may look a bit boney from the wind but once you get inside, powder buffet!Mangia!
*))
((*NHPH

At Sutton, less than 10 miles north of Jay on the other side of the border, we received rain from 11am to 2pm on Sunday. It turned to snow after then, up until midnight (8" received). Wind got strong at the end of the storm, which pushed everything that fell to the woods or on the side of the trails.

This made for icy conditions with some snow drifts in open trails of upper mountain today, while lower and wind-protected areas were evenly covered with fluff. Glades and out-bounds terrain was generally in excellent conditions.

As we move ahead this week, the groomers will be in their winter-like standard conditions, and glades will become packed powder with a few icy patches. The sun and the warmer temps at the end of the week might mean spring-like conditions in lower portions of trails, as it hapenned last week.

was at jay 24,25,26. conditions were excellent off the groomed snow. the glades had lots of untracked powder. the only downside was that some areas were windswept and had crust. the face was in bad shap due to the wind. pumphouse and vallhalla were both sweet however as alot of the snow on the face blew onto them.
