Looks of disbelief darted about the bus when George told a tourist that his binding was repaired with space-age materials by a rocket scientist from NASA. Only George wasn?t lying.
Well okay, he exaggerated a little. This guy with the coffee mug

is actually a retired NASA rocket scientist. Everything else is accurate. You can?t get that epoxy-ish stuff in a hardware store. Nor the metal.

Don?t feel bad for Cartman. He?s making breakthroughs all the time.
His signature move may be the Flailing Turtle,
![2006030901.jpg](http://www.uvm.edu/skivt-l/image_upload/World/2006030901.jpg)
but his moments in the sun are intensifying.

And don?t feel bad for me. I called in sick from the top of a mountain. Ski patrol got a kick out of it. And the next day, too. Right before my scheduled days off. I?m not sure, but a considerably increased suntan might give me away when I go back to work.
And don?t feel sorry for?
Well, don?t feel bad for any of us. I mean, things could be worse.

Mostly, though, don?t feel bad for Cartman.

Good friends can be hard to come by, so when you find one, don?t feel bad for you.
Precious moments sometimes don?t strike as such until remembered later. Like getting ready for a storm in the house of play.

Or a microsecond of exploding powder.
![2006031411.jpg](http://www.uvm.edu/skivt-l/image_upload/World/2006031411.jpg)
We were amused when we first saw the sign.
![2006031101.jpg](http://www.uvm.edu/skivt-l/image_upload/World/2006031101.jpg)
It had us thinking of Itchy and Scratchy. As the cartoon cat loads the mouse onto a surface lift, the mouse pins the cat?s foot to the ground with a ski pole, and then melts the flesh off his face with a flame thrower. With a bare skull exposed, the cat continues to do his job while standing in a pool of blood. Bart and Lisa giggle.
Giddy from a great powder run, our second time through was a little different.
As the female lift attendant loads us on the T-bar, snowboarder George drops a bomb:
?Can I stab you with my pole??
It was juvenile, inappropriate, and pee-your-pants funny.
The third time through, the sign was changed.
![2006031102.jpg](http://www.uvm.edu/skivt-l/image_upload/World/2006031102.jpg)
?Was it something I said??
Yes, it was, George. Let?s go put that NASA binding to the test. See if it doesn?t pass with flying colors.
![2006031201.jpg](http://www.uvm.edu/skivt-l/image_upload/World/2006031201.jpg)
It passed.
On a bright, bright, sunshiny day, what could be better than powder on a mountain? Sharing laughs with good friends, cheering each other on, losing each other, finding each other, and chasing each other down.

After days and days of frontcountry frenzy, it?s nice to take a break from it. Kick back and enjoy the easy pace of life on the other side.
![2006031405.jpg](http://www.uvm.edu/skivt-l/image_upload/World/2006031405.jpg)
Turn things up in little bursts, but only when you feel like it.
![2006031502.jpg](http://www.uvm.edu/skivt-l/image_upload/World/2006031502.jpg)
When we all go our separate ways, we?ll remember these days. It?s sad in a way because sooner than we know it, we?ll be scattered around the globe. It is inevitable.
What we?ll have of each other are snapshots from a time that sometimes seemed magical. We all have an unspoken awareness of this, and so we play a little harder, laugh a little louder and celebrate a little more. That magical time is now.
It?s hard to know exactly how to feel sometimes. Time is flying away.
![2006030903.jpg](http://www.uvm.edu/skivt-l/image_upload/World/2006030903.jpg)
There is one thing for certain, though.
Don?t feel bad for Cartman.
