So, anyone tired of hearing about little Eldora yet?
Lets see, short 3 parts for you today.
part 1- Eldora: Several front side trails have snowguns placed (but not running - too warm!) and so sections of the hill open on somewhat thin natural snow previously are closed again for the moment. Snow skied surprisingly well everywhere else on the hill though.
part 2 - weather: very warm for Jan with some sun to start the day, followed by snow which moved in slowly at first, then came down pretty good for periods. Maybe an inch an hour at times with an inch or so before I left. More importantly, it was a pineapple express as it was wet snow today. Snow stopped sticking to the road only halfway down the Shelf Road (about 9000 foot level!), and going down the canyon snow changed over to rain pretty quickly - my guess is around 8000 foot level. Implications are OK for Eldora & central CO, but highly likely it was rain for 1/3 of Steamboats vertical, possible that it could have been rain at the base of the Aspen areas as well, etc...
Part 3 - a few more pics for you. taken during the transition from sun to snow... Note the faint sun in a couple and the obvious light snow starting up in others...
