Nice afternoon of groomers

I had a nice confluence to get me up the hill for a few hours today. I had a meeting set for the entire morning outside of work, and I'm desperately in need of burning some vacation days as well. I headed up pretty much at noon and due to lunch hour traffic in Boulder it took a full hour to get up and into the parking lot where I found an open slot in the second row. On hill just a few minutes later, the snow was mostly he same as last Sunday (packed powder with a few icy manmade spots here and there). I think Eldora has had ~ 4" since Sunday keeping the snow reasonably fresh.

Temps had to have been in the upper twenties, with nary a cloud to be seen. Even more shocking the breeze was nearly non-existant. With lifts pretty much ski-on I got somewhere around 14 laps prior to ending at 3:45 when the sun had gone behind the mountain leaving light pretty flat and difficult... and also progressively getting a whole lot colder, quickly. I was surprised to see that snowmaking was still in full force on Corona and they have only started snowmaking on about half of the return trail from Corona. So no Corona this weekend. At least they had opened up a couple of more trails since last weekend (Scream & Dream, Crewcut, 4 O'Clock) providing just enough variety of options to keep it interesting for an afternoon. There has definitely been a touch of poaching going on as you can see some tracks on a few closed trails. If you had a fat ski and knew which sides to ski you might be OK from rocks, but only maybe...

Only bad cell phone pics again today.
