Slowly Getting Better
At least I had 3 options from the top of the lift today instead of just the one that I had the past 3 weeks (windmill, Jolly Jug, Hornblower). Eldora has had a little over a foot of new snow and colder temps in the past week making things look more like winter and allowing snowmaking to occur much of the time since my last TR. Unfortunately today was like many days this December where just before lunch the snow guns had to be turned off due to temps approaching the freezing mark. Really, really too bad as there was not even a hint of a breeze in the air today so it would have been wondrous for the snowmaking team to lay snow where they actually wanted it. Snowmaking today was on 3 different little hawk trails including, shockingly, the race training lane on Chute. Indian Peaks needs a bunch more snow to open, so definitely not until next week.
It was mostly overcast with a storm coming in from the SW (Eldora never gets snow from SW flow). Hopefully the planned change to westerly flow will occur tonight as predicted as Eldora may get a little bit out of that direction. Another storm is predicted for Sunday and then another for Wednesday so things are looking up finally. Today in the spirit of our Jr Race development team starting up on Saturday, I only skied today instead of using the board. My same roughly 14 runs, alternating through the 3 options. I'm planning on one more Eldora day next week (hopefully choose a storm day if I can) before I head back east to ski WROD's at the glorious Greekus Peakus over the holidays.
Sorry for the boring pictures today. Every time I stopped to take a couple pics there was literally no one around.
