Just a quick outing.
Just Jr and I again today. We hit a relatively warm (right near the freezing mark) and cloudless day. Getting on hill around 10a and finishing about 2p. We took it relatively easy with Jr choosing a couple laps on the Sundance lift in the 'half pipe' (not a real half pipe, just some dug up dirt that gets you a trench style run). We did hit one of the new trails on the backside - Alpenhorn. Nice trail... until it met up with Wolf tongue where the snow went to quite slippery hardpack which was no fun for Jr.
Jr seems to like Labelle on the frontside which is good, I guess, since that is the race trail
Only modest crowds being the day before Christmas and no new snow in the past week for them (much of Colo did get snow this week, but the wind direction was not favorable to Eldora).
Recently groomed stuff skied quite well. The not recently groomed stuff was set up a lot firmer and scratchier in that continental snowpack kind of way.
Happy Holidays to the forums, whichever your chosen one is.
