Just a quick report from Christmas day. Teaching a couple of NC folks to ski in the beginner land. We actually had a fair bit of time on the hill. Enough to stop in for a late lunch where the IP lodge had exactly zero of our initial requests from the menu. Exactly one person (eventually) behind the counter cared to state more than the obvious of "we don't have anymore of that". Though one did mention that they had run out of several key food items for 3 days straight... Thanks, so helpful.

And the rental dept was a frustrating mess of "oh that's just around the corner" - eventually 'going around the corner' 3 times... But then trying to pay required, yes you guessed it - "We can only check out the helmet, you have to 'go around the corner' for the rest..." Hope the new GM can put some effort into things over the next season or so. Eldora is not putting it's best customer service face out to the world these days...

As to the skiing, not too cold of a day, mostly overcast with the occasional flurries and once the sun for a couple minutes. Pretty good snow and resort was making snow when we showed up but stopped shortly after.

A LOT of work, but also some fun teaching and keeping track of a 5 yr old and her mom while also having my son take his first ever lift rides by himself. And being excited to do so. He's really progressing pretty fast. Need to keep up the consistency.

Just a couple of pics since I was so busy.

Speaking of kids, I watched a 6-year-old ski High Boy today from the top. Pretty impressive.

Mine was not overly interested in listening/trying new tips without a bit of hounding until this season. Now he's progressing pretty fast.

The inverse of my experience with Adam. He was highly motivated and took direction very well ages 3-6 (that's skiing, not necessarily so in other environments of course). From the level he attained by age 7 I insisted he have some lessons as he would probably only learn bad habits from me.
