Quick runs on the steeps for the first time this season.
Junior was a bit sick this weekend but I was able to make it out of the house around noon and on the lift by just after 1pm. I hit as many of the inbounds steeps as I could muster in the short time. Which meant 1 IP liftline on the way back to the Corona chair and then 5 runs in Salto and Moose. Eldora has reported something like 4 feet in the past 2+ weeks and conditions were generally good but also didn't feel like the full 4+ had fallen. Officially 0" in 24 but 10" in 72 hours. Mostly soft snow, but a reasonable amount of firm-ish/chalky type snow too. Only one section at the bottom of west ridge had underlying ice from the warm early Feb exposed. Which was one reason I went with 3 top to bottom laps of Moose glade which totally avoids that section. After the best stuff to lookers right of Corona chair closed up I did a Bryan/Pillows run which, well Bryan is just too tight to be much fun for non-kids. After one more lap on the front side on a groomer I headed back down the canyon by 4pm. I counted ~11,600 verts in a touch under 3 hours. The chilly overcast and flurries only added a dusting of actual snow by the end of the day (reported 3" this morning).
