After a searing summer and a wishy-washy forecast for this upcoming winter, it was nice to awake to chilly temperatures and a dusting of snow on the Three Sisters. I'm guessing the snow level was around 8000' and more snow is expected on Friday night. The ski area's forecaster mentioned we have a one-third chance of below, average and above average snowfall this winter with the current sea surface and ENSO conditions. We'll see, wish us luck!

Mt. Bachelor snowfall in strong El Nino months is 88% of average. That's 335 inches for a season, which most ski areas would be happy to have. And of course there's variability. Bachelor had 536 inches in the record El Nino year of 1982-83.
