Freshies at Bachelor 11/23/2008

Today was another gorgeous multi-sport day here in the sunny and dry PNW. I started out skate skiing on the packed Cascades Lakes Highway that passes right by the base of Mt Bachelor. It's been groomed and so is not too rutted by the "snow machines". I skied for 1 1/2 hours with my friends Paul and Johane. She had a great story today how she took a ski lesson in French-speaking Switzerland. Johane speaks fluent French as she was born in Montreal, Canada. So Michel doesn't notice her accent and proceeds to call her all sorts of derogatory names in French, and she didn't let on that she understood every word! Turns out he had to drop to his knee and beg her forgiveness to save his job once the director found out. I guess it pays to be polite. :-&
Anyway, after that Robert met me and we donned our skins to go check out the Red Chair. I had some fun turns in that area yesterday and I was determined to prove to him it was as good as I had claimed. We skinned to the top of the Red Chair and found some more consolidated pow. We got lucky with a couple little storms late last week that stayed north and didn't freshen up areas to the south.

Tracks on the Cinder Cone.

Schubwa kicking some up this afternoon. Those are Volkl Mountains with an impressive 71mm waist. That was a mid not so many years ago.
