Well got off to a late start today and didn't get out of Albany, NY till 8...got right on the Northway up to exit 23 then up to Gore watching the snowpack grow the whole way up. New snow was evident at about Glens Falls/Lake George Region and as soon as we were in Warrensburg there was a ton of snow on the ground. Probably 6-8 new with 2-3 feet on the ground. A little farther up the road closer to Gore fences started disappearing with only the top posts sticking out and then the snowbanks so high as you were driving all you were looking at was white all around you. We pulled into the parking lot at around 930 only to find a lot of snow and no people. We parked halfway back in the front lot at 930! On a nice Feb weekend we would have been parking on the side of the road.

Went up the High speed triple and thought Twister would be a nice warm up run...well what do you know it wasn't groomed and I don't know what the snow report said but there was a good 16 inches on it and its not the steepest so it was spent straightlining. Fun but work. Snow wasn't too wet...actually creamy like.

Then it was the top. Gondola to Straightbrook quad. Kill Kare Glades and Pine Knot was awesome. The glades were filled deep and fat and we just surfed the wave of snow. Everything off the Quad was game. Chatimac Glades were the best with the lightest and deepest snow and the chutes and rockes in there were kickin. A buddy of mine went flying off one of the 10 foot drops only to sink in about 4 feet and then double eject and we had to dig him out. Took us about 20 min to get him situated again. Man it was deep in there. Probably up to 20 inches of light pow. Gun Barrel, Straightbrook Glades, Chatimac, Hawkeye were all great with some great tree and bump lines.

Then it was to the High Peaks double. Lower Stielhang(SP?) was open and again sick with very light and dry snow. Actually the lights snow was probably in the High Peaks area with upper and lower darby, and Hullabulo having great powder bump lines.

Lunch: Power Bar on Gondi

Then we tried the Twister Glades which are steeper then the Twister Trail and the snow was again not too bad...by late afternoon it started to get heavy though and fog moved in somehow giving it a small crust...besides that the glades were awesome with small drops and rolls all the way down and face shots were had off the rolls and landings weren't a problem(Bigger problem was gettin yourself out of the hole you created from landing). After 3 runs through the glades, each time finding another untouched area that was just waiting for us to mark up, we then went back for a couple more on the HIgh Peaks double and found a nice tree shot to skiers right of the upper part of Open Pit, a little 6 foot wide swath of 18 inches of cream.

Then we were beat and the snow was gettin more and more heavy and fog was setting in so we left right at 4pm gettin a good nonstop day of pow action.
