Happy Thanksgiving @ Mt B, 11/22/12

Again, it’s kind of amazing how we went from a lousy foot of snow to what was delivered today. I can’t remember such a fine opening day with calm, blue skies and a smooth carpet of bouncy powder.
It is exciting to launch a new season and you get to reconnect with the folks you rarely see in the summertime as everybody spreads out. I met up with Robert after a run as his wife was a dope and forgot to get her pass down in town before the season started. I was already on my way to the airport after two hours of riding and she still hadn’t got her pass.
Back at my car, these guys jumped out of a truck parked by me and to my surprise it was my older son Carson. He was with Kyle Martin, his best bud, who now runs the snowboarding scene here at the mountain. Carson lives in Portland now as he was just hired by High Cascade Snowboard Camp as their Director of Marketing. He recently moved from SLC, kind of a bitter sweet move for him but he is closer to friends and family.

It started out light grey bird but soon cleared. Super coverage awaited the early risers.

It seemed like three feet of Gunnite was plastered on our local slopes and then covered with a nice coat of fresh.

The Cone got hit early today by the hikers. Looks like it was good.

Cirque Bowl from Skyliner lift.

The "Moraine", usually seriously rocky until Christmas or later, benefitted from the plastering.
