Happy Thanksgiving (Mt Bach backcountry)

I too am thankful for where I live, and have the health to enjoy it.
Today dawned clear and way warmer, with another Pacific pulse due in tomorrow. I was to meet Dan and Gregg, both super-fit Nordic and backcountry skiers. But they wanted an alpine start to go to Tumalo Mtn and I just couldn't get up that early. I figured we'd meet up in the bowl, but I think they went to the Todd Lake BC instead.
So I went solo.

A panorama of the north facing flank of Bachelor from about 7000' on Tumalo Mtn. The approach to Tumalo is typical Cascadian shield volcano stuff: flatter lower slopes getting steeper as you go. But this one has a nice NE facing bowl. A pretty solid roadside attraction.

This turkey is looking forward to getting stuffed later today.

Guess which ones are mine.

Main bowl, Thanksgiving Day 2010. Some deep, wind-stiffened fresh. I stopped and had a "crack cocaine" sandwich (cracked wheat bread, almond butter, peach jam, granola, banana slices). Choked down with some strong coffee. Back up.

So four runs on Tumalo gets me back to my car at the Skyliner lot. I had my pass so I jumped on Sky, skied down to WV and checked out the new stuff in the Sport Shop. Back up Pine, down to the car. Had a beer cooling in the snowbank. It was a good day.
This photo is for Tony. Halfway between Pine and Sky on the traverse looking up. Yeah, the top could be open...
