Friend and I parked in front row of cold, snowy and windy Boulder lot about 845. We loaded slow advanced beginner Boulder chair not much after 9, then moved to high-speed North Bowl that is somewhat exposed to wind just before top but AFAIK ran all day. Friend was sorry he’d left his glove warmers in his truck, and I could have used my vest, but neither of us wanted to ski down and have to repeat slow chair. Heavenly ran Dipper, their highest NV lift until almost 11 and surprisingly ran gondola and Tamarack chair in the morning. (Sky chair, highest in CA and needed to get from CA to NV never ran due to wind. Mott Canyon also never opened.) I’m phoneless on this trip and without app on my laptop to read where my Garmin watch says I skied so not exactly sure where I skied and don't have any photos.
We met up with my nephew who is a first-year instructor at Heavenly at Tamarack Lodge at 11, knowing worst case we could return to lower NV using Big Easy beginner lift to get to saddle that would get us to Comet run. But Tamarack, which stopped a few times ran until almost noon so we used it to traverse to Big Dipper run then skied past “end of grooming” sign to Outlaw run that had 4-6” new and rode long slow Galaxy chair once. If it was high-speed it would have been good place to ski low-angle powder as there is a lot of terrain and trees and it’s very wind-protected. We skied Nevada Trail to Stagecoach lift, then Upper Nevada Trail to Olympic chair which also AFAIK ran all day. There was a moderate line for Olympic due a couple of snowboarders taking a dive land getting stuck under chair while loading.
Nephew and I skied powder in Cloud 9 area then led friend to Lower Nevada Trail as he was nearly done for the day (before 1). Nephew and I skied Boulder Chute where there was 4” untracked on one side and along edges. Twice we skied trees to skiers left of North Bowl finding some short steep untracked but a lot of logs and rocks barely covered. The second time down we skied The Pines into Bohemian Grove, but probably should have gone further left to more open The Burn. Next time up, we followed patroller who had just set track along top of North Bowl chair (to raise chair pads) and skied powder above Olympic Downhill. We finished our day skiing two laps on Stagecoach, first coming down between Emily’s and chair then found great lower angle untracked between Lower Nevada and Stagecoach chair. Our last run was Stagecoach Woods to Boulder Chute. We quit about 2:30 and found precipitation was much wetter below North Bowl chair base and had to wipe googles many time skiing to 7,250’ base. My Avocet counted 18 runs, 21,570 vertical.
