Hey, check it out

Yeah, that press release has already been picked up by a couple of outlets. I'm expecting a bigger distribution this weekend, as PR Web will be sending it out to media outlets tomorrow.

It's really a pretty neat service. I've been testing it for a couple of weeks now before we went live with it, working with rubberSNOW to customize the service exactly as we wanted it for FTO readers. For anyone who uses a cell phone for more than the occasional emergency call, the ability to receive fully customized snow alerts on their mobile phone's screen is really something cool.

I already signed up.

I have some concerns and suggestions:

I would love to have some of my requests sent to my phone, but all of them sent to email, can this be done? Do I need to sign up twice to do that?

Do text mesages cost me minutes?

Yup.

No. But some providers do charge a per-message fee on certain plans, so make sure what your text messaging allowance is. For example, my Sprint plan has unlimited text messaging included -- no charges for me. But my wife's former Verizon plan cost her $0.02 per text message to receive, and $0.10 each to send. But, she could have paid $3 per month for 100 messages, or $5 per month for unlimited messages.
