There are few ways to physically prepare for the ski season that are as rewarding as an autumn hike in the mountains. Friend Todd, now living in Utah after moving from Florida, joined Zach, Buddy and yours truly for a hike of Neff's Canyon this afternoon.
Neff's Canyon highlights the accessibility of world-class mountain recreation on the edge of the Salt Lake Valley. The trailhead actually lies within a suburban neighborhood known as Olympus Cove, but after a short bit of hiking you pass into the Lone Peak Wilderness Area. We gained 2,400 vertical feet over 2.75 miles to arrive at the Neff's Canyon Meadow at 8,000 feet before turning around and heading back by doubling back upon our route.
