Unlikely IMHO. They were never open to my knowledge during the warm week I was at Iron Blosam March 10-16. It's been a bad year for snow stability as most of you know.kingslug":27ejiumx said:Are the Baldy chutes open?
Only Main Chute has been open this season, and for only 2 days. As Tony said, unlikely to extremely unlikely. Our snowpack is still weak, with multiple failure planes, and we're looking at a rapid warm up starting tomorrow, further stressing the snowpack.Tony Crocker":aa7vzxj8 said:Unlikely IMHO. I retract my statement - Main Chute is open today, as is East Baldy (but not the EB Chutes). Frankly, I'm very surprised.Marc_C":37yori6t said:As Tony said, unlikely to extremely unlikely. Always remember that the avi bulletins are *exclusively* for the side & back country, not within resorts and their controlled terrain. Doesn't mean it can't slide in-bounds as we well know, just extremely low probability.kingslug":2hroptxg said:Or not..the avi reports are pretty sketchy, sounds like it could slide anywhere...
