FYI. For those doing the "Calgary Loop" or other B.C. road trips, this is a very attractive option to keep in mind. In terms of terrain, service and organization Island Lake is first class. The major caveat is Fernie's low elevation and occasional rain, so there is now potential to cat ski on short notice when conditions are good.
I should warn that Fernie is having a very slow start to the current season and is currently only 1/4 open.
