I had originally paid $32 for a VTer ticket at Jay. However, when the Bonaventure chair (the only one open at the time) closed at 3, Customer Service gave me a Snow Check for another day - no questions asked (very cool!) Hence, $16 for Wednesday, and $16 for when I use the Snow Check. Jay was frickin' cold! Air temp was about 15, but the winds which were supposed to subside during the morning never did. As a result, the Freezer and Tram were closed all day and the Jet ran only briefly. Still very nice pow (slightly windpacked) in Vertigo, Buckaroo Bonzai, and Canyon Land. Around noon, my friend John and I couldn't stand knowing about the goods off the Flyer which hadn't been touched for days, so we skied down Goat Run and then did the hike through the howling gale to the top of Staircase. Oh Myyyy! I pushed a ski in the powder to test depth, it went in at least 5 feet! Staircase to Everglade left me very exhausted and very happy. It was well worth the long wait at the T-Bar to get back to Stateside. A couple more Vertigo runs and our day was over.
