Although I suspected that MRG would be the place to have a powder day, the financially-challenged among us couldn't pass up the $32 (at par!) Jay deal offered through the web site. We arrived to blue skies and only the lightest breeze--and for the first time this year I experienced Jay Peak with ALL the lifts running ALL day. The groomers, not surprisingly, were thin packed powder over blue ice, but the woods had the goods. Jay skiers seem to lack the adventurous spirit of the MRG set, excavating a brutally-scoured bobsled track straight down the most obvious line and ignoring untracked powder 10' off either side. Kitz Woods, Hell's Woods, Canyon Land, North Glade, and even the blue-square Bushwacker delivered soft and silent turns from morning to late afternoon.
